Glamis Hall

Glamis Hall is the community hall managed by the Glamis Residents' Association. Located centrally within the estate, the hall provides an accessible space for local activities, community meetings, family celebrations and neighbourhood initiatives.

The hall is run by the Residents' Association committee and supports the charity's wider aim of bringing people together, strengthening community life and providing useful facilities for residents and the wider Shadwell area.

Glamis Hall is a flexible community venue suitable for a wide range of uses, including private functions, residents' meetings, community activities, wellbeing sessions and local events.

The hall can accommodate up to 100 people and has wheelchair-accessible facilities.

Opening Times & Availability

The hall is currently available for bookings during the following times:

  • Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 9:00am to 9:00pm.
  • Saturdays: 10:00am until midnight.
  • Unavailable: Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays.

What the Hall Can Be Used For

Private Functions

The hall may be suitable for birthday parties, wedding receptions, family gatherings and other private celebrations.

Community Activities

The hall can be used for local groups, wellbeing sessions, exercise classes, indoor activities, workshops and community projects.

Meetings & Local Engagement

The hall is also used for Residents' Association meetings, councillor surgeries, consultations and other community discussions.

Hall Hire Charges

The current charges for hiring Glamis Hall are:

  • One-day hire: £350
  • Two consecutive days: £500 – with the first day available for preparation.
  • Security deposit: £350

The security deposit is separate from the hall hire charge and is refundable following the booking, subject to the hall being returned in the required condition and the Terms and Conditions of Hire being followed.

All payments must be made by bank transfer. Cash payments are not accepted.

The hall hire charge must be paid at least 28 days before the event date. Payment details will be provided as part of the booking process. The payment reference should include your event date and surname.

All bookings are subject to the hall rules, availability, suitability of the event and final approval by the Glamis Residents' Association committee.

Important Hire Conditions

  • The person hiring the hall must be over 25 years old.
  • The maximum permitted capacity of the hall is 100 people.
  • For applicable private-event bookings, check-in is from 2:00pm.
  • Music must finish by 11:00pm.
  • Guests must leave quietly, and the hall must be vacated by midnight.
  • Where an overnight hire period applies, check-out is by 10:00am the following morning.
  • Alcohol and event tickets must not be sold in the hall.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the hall or on the shared-access ramp and in the courtyard areas.
  • Fire exits must remain clear and unobstructed at all times.
  • The hall's installed speakers are not included in the hall hire and must not be used.
  • Helium balloons are not permitted.
  • Bouncy castles require prior permission.

The shared-access ramp and courtyard immediately outside the hall are not included in the hall hire. These areas are shared with residents and other organisations and should only be used for entering and leaving the hall. Guests must not congregate in these areas or obstruct access.

How the Booking Process Works

The calendar below allows you to check availability and submit a booking request for Glamis Hall.

When you select a date and time, you will be asked to provide your contact details and event information. A copy of the request will be emailed to you and to the committee.

Please note: submitting a booking request does not mean the hall is fully booked or confirmed. Your request will be reviewed by a member of the committee, who will then contact you to confirm the event's availability and suitability and to formally approve or decline the booking.

Once a booking has been approved, you will be provided with the information required to complete the booking and make payment by bank transfer.

Your booking is not confirmed until the committee has reviewed and approved it.

Before You Submit a Booking Request

Please make sure your request includes:

  • Your preferred date and time.
  • The type of event.
  • Expected number of guests.
  • How long you need the hall for, including setup and clearing away time.
  • Any special requirements.

Cancellations

The following cancellation terms apply to the security deposit:

  • At least 28 full calendar days before the booking: 100% of the deposit refunded.
  • At least 21 full calendar days before the booking: 50% of the deposit refunded.
  • Less than 21 days before the booking: 100% of the deposit retained by the Glamis Residents' Association.

Hall Rules

All hirers must follow the Glamis Hall Terms and Conditions of Hire. These include requirements relating to capacity, noise, cleaning, decorations, access, alcohol, music, security, damage, waste disposal, deposits and the responsible use of the building.

All rubbish and recycling must be removed from the hall before it is locked, and must not be stored there overnight. Hirers are also responsible for leaving the hall clean and tidy and returning tables and chairs to their correct locations.

The £350 security deposit may be retained in full or in part if the Terms and Conditions are breached, or if additional costs arise as a result of the booking, including cleaning, damage, loss, missing keys, or failure to return the hall in the required condition.

The committee reserves the right to refuse or cancel bookings where the event is unsuitable, information is incomplete, conditions are not met, or the booking would conflict with the Association's responsibilities.
